I went through a deep-dive on Mark Hunt's K-1 kickboxing career. As a young man with a troubled childhood and very little boxing training he started as an incredibly aggressive and absolutely fearless Kiwi brawler seemingly impervious to pain who was lighting up juiced up monsters and kickboxing killers left and right. Halfway through he won the title, made some money, partied hard, put on the weight, and seemed to lose a step. By the time he finally got to UFC in his later years that's an absolute TON of mileage. Mad respect for Mark.

Hunt fought so many guys who were juiced to the gills while natty. Mark looked fast af until that first knockdown. It clearly drained a big chunk of his gas tank and made him slower.

Может Хант и хорошо держит удар, но он слишком медленный, руки медленные и на ногах медленно передвигаеться, Сантос его просто перебивает на руках и сразу уходит от ударов Ханта, нет с такой медленной скоростью Ханту не победить. Может это уже возраст начинает сказываться, но у Ханта почти не было шансов на победу. Вертушка от Сантоса в конце это класс!

Joe Rogan: Mark is on a completely different higher level of kick boxing than Dos Santos, then the split second after Joe said that Dos Santos drops I’m with a hook. Then dominates him the entire rest of this match. The commentators always say stuff, then the opposite of what they said happens.

To be fair, joe doesn't know anything about striking. He has always been a wrestling guy. Mark Hunt was not technical in K1, he often got dominated and relied on his chin and godly punching power.

@@icetea6531Нет, это не так. Хант был блестящим кикбоксером и очень хорошим бойцом ММА. До этого боя он провел множество боев с лучшими кикбоксерами и бойцами ММА. Никто не будет всегда в лучшей форме. Это невозможно. JDS победил старого Крокопа и Ханта, но был поражен Каином. Сантос никогда не был особенно хорошим игроком. Довольно зрелищно наблюдать, но не более того. С уважением.

If you notice, that kick to the head, it wasn't the foot but the lower calf that hit Hunt and it was deflected mostly. I think it just knocked Hunt off balance, but he was so gassed he just stayed there and the ref called it off thinking it was a KO. If you notice Hunt isn't knocked out- he's exhausted. Don't think it mattered, Cigano was still going to win. This is a great case study of where speed, in particular- Movement, can take a much stronger puncher out of a fight. The jab was also great at keeping distance. In a slugfest- hunt might've won but Cig never gave him the chance. Smart Fighting.

Hunt relied too much on his hands. He's a great boxer but if he would have worked the body shots with the legs more i think he would have got it. dude has tree trunk legs just like rogan said. When you start to play too much chess i noticed alot of times thats when you get rocked.

Joe is so stupid. He thought Mark would win with that reach and height disadvantage just because he was in k-1. Junior was clearly the best boxer in the division. Carwin couldn't land a single clean shot against him their whole fight. It was amazing.
