You'll never see a faster mount to a guillotine ever again. That was a lifetime of training and muscle memory. Also, you'll never see someone survive one like that. Ortega is a warrior and Volk is working on becoming the GOAT. This is one of my favorite fights ever, coupled with one of the best rounds in MMA history

Apparently Volk practiced 1000 times or more during training getting out of guillotines and triangle chokes in preparation for Ortega, and wow did that preparation pay off. Still, without that heart of a champion and without those superman skills, Volk might not have survived.

i’ve watched this fight a good 4-5 times, it’s so interesting seeing how tough Volk was the entire fight. Ortega really has the stamina and can take a nasty punch.

Was no fan of Ortega in the beginning. But, after watching him for a while, and seeing the tremendous heart he has, he's earned my respect and admiration. He's what the great Greek philosophers called "men with chests."

that's the first thing I noticed about the sport when I started watching around 2 years ago. It's so ironic how they literally try to kill each other for 15-25 min and then hug like they're best friends right afterwards

It's sad Ortega never really crossed that line into greatness. I remember when the UFC first hyped him up... I thought it was too early for such a young kid. Today he really only had one shot at climbing the rankings and going for a belt. He just needs to tighten his skill... Cause we know he's tuff.

Volk is the perfect size for FW, he's not small but he's not as big as most others in top 10 and it gives him a speed advantage that he constantly uses to his benefit.

There’s something about 15:46 that gives me chills. The way Ortega’s head falls back while his arms and legs are on autopilot which just shows years of training and how much these guys want it. Gnarly stuff

man even when the fighters don't like each other much. I LOVE seeing the show of sportsmanship at the end of the fights. It happens a lot more now days too. sometimes it doesn't. But I love seeing it. Like when the dr called the bamf between Diaz and masvidal. literally as soon as the ref waved his hands you could see how disappointed masvidal was at not being able to finish the fight. They we're both in immediate agreement the they had to have another fight as soon as Diaz was healed. Good stuff

One of my all time favorite UFC title fights, man when Ortega locked in the guillotine I thought Volk was done for, Volk proved why is one of the goats and T City proved he has the heart of a warrior 👏👏👏👏

What im seeing here is a heart from volk in the last mins of the fight he knows his ahead, and even he throws some to the face of Brian after he was letting him to stand.. He knows Brian has no strength to defend himself that time if he strikes him seriously. But i think volk felt Brian never meant to surrender. So he just let Brian finish the fight w out counting seriously. A tough fihgter but w a good heart.
