Esse dia o Velasquez foi para um concurso de machesa, mas encontrou um mais macho do que ele. É impressionante como werdum estava bem preparado. Eu lembro que eu assisti a luta ao vivo, mas adrenalina era tanta que não era possível analisar, hoje foi a primeira vez que assisti a luta novamente. Você percebe o quão bem preparado ele estava, Quantos golpes Ele resistiu e quantos golpes ele acertou. No início do segundo round, depois de um primeiro round tão Frenético, um lutador de 120 kg dá um chute alto com aquela velocidade, não me lembro em que cidade foi, mas sei que foi no México e o local estava bem Acima do Nível do Mar.

@@JohnBrown-vn2qw I don't think so. Some fighters are just godawful style matchups. Cain's entire gameplan was charging forward into the dirty boxing clinch with volume and the threat of the takedown. Werdum welcomed both the clinch and the takedown. He had accurate enough boxing and heavy strikes to tag Cain on the way in, the Thai technique to control Cain's head in the clinch, the knees and elbows to do serious damage when in close and as a bonus he could pull guard whenever things got out of hand. Cain would have had to completely change who he was as a fighter to take the rematch. Stranger things have happened, obviously, but I wouldn't have bet on it.

Werdum foi um dos melhores peso pesado de todos os tempos. Um dos primeiros a trazer o jiu Jitsu numa categoria onde só era acostumado a ver trocação. Uma pena que o werdum foi muito subestimado, venceu fedor no 1° round com 69 segundos de luta sendo o primeiro a destronar o imperador, venceu minotauro com uma chave de braço e venceu cain Velásquez que era considerado imbatível. Uma pena ter facilado contra o miocic senão poderia ter ficado com o cinturão por mais um tempo.

werdum had one of the greatest career resurgences in MMA history. before he subbed fedor he was always known as a journeyman fighter who everyone knew had great grappling but couldnt put it all together. Im not sure when exactly he started working with Cordeiro but Im willing to bet that had a big effect(and whatever Rafaels guys were on).

Wow i feel like we no longer see fights like this in UFC now & this was the end of an era. Maybe its just me but even the energy of the building just different. They should have never brought in usada. A sport as rough as this the guys need it to fight furiously for (5) 5m rounds. Theres been a considerable drop in performance ever since & i always forget until i see these replays and think holy shit this was crazy.Otherwise i think they should make rounds 3m as you get extra rest & it stands the guys up. Great fight

The “cardio” difference between here and Cain’s other fights was really that Cain relied heavily on getting a leaning bipod on guys against the cage on their chest, which wore them out much more than him. Werdum took this away by getting him in a Thai clinch so that he couldn’t throw all his balance that way. That changed the whole efficiency balance and led to him burning out. It would have happened at sea level.

It’s been awhile, but I thought I read or heard on a podcast somewhere that Werdum arrived to train in Mexico City much earlier than Velazquez did. Giving him a slight advantage when it came to altitude. Added to the fact Velazquez had been sidelined for about 20 months. I was on vacation in Mexico City and went for a morning run, let me tell you that altitude is no joke.

Excuses. And Werdum was a horrible match-up for Cain anyway. Unlike Cigano, he wasn't scared of Cain's clinch-game, and he absolutely didn't mind being taken down. Cain liked pressuring so striking from range goes out the window. No matter the scenario, Cain's style was never meant to beat someone like Werdum, elevation or not. Javier Mendez will always come up with excuses

Fabricio Werdum lives up to his nickname "Vai Cavalo" and Cain Velasquez was an alien. Few fighters could handle what these two endured in this fight. I'm Brazilian and I rooted for Werdum a lot, but Velasquez has my respect and admiration.

WOW I didn’t watch UFC back during this day and age, but Cain looks so much like Khabib. The similarities especially as a striker are so eerily similar. Khabib clearly learned so much from him which makes sense why he reveres and respects Cain so much

Eu fico revoltado quando vejo comentários dizendo q o Cain estava fora de ritmo, por isso ele perdeu, só quem ñ entende de luta, fala isso, o Cain usou a velha tática de usar o jogo de grade é cansar os braços do adversário e assim nos rounds seguintes com o adversário cansado, ele massacra o cara, ganhou várias lutas assim, mas o werdum casca grossa q é, ñ cansou e nem entrou nesse jogo e ñ se intimidou, werdum lutou muito bem, e deu uma surra no Cain.

Great gameplan by ferbricio!!! It’s almost like he knew all of that was going to happen! He knew Cain wasn’t going to be able to handle that high altitude 😮. It looked like Cains punches were just bouncing off of him.

Me atrevo a decir que estos dos peleadores han entrenado juntos más de una vez, se conocen tan bien en el sentido de la amistad que pelean muy limpio el uno contra el otro... peleando de la manera más profesional que este deporte permite. No vi al Cain "asesino" que estoy acostumbrado a ver... y esa limpieza en la pelea permitió que su amigo fuera el que ganara. Sin embargo, no le quito el mérito de ganar al Fabricio... solo digo que fue una pelea limpia y justa sin sed de hacer daño innecesario al otro; una pelea respetuosa deportivamente hablando.

Wow. I don't know that I've seen Cain fight before. Brings to mind Yoel Romera saying they make you a mach-ine. Werdum so technical, so competent, so tireless. Great HW fighters going at it like they were bantamweights.
