To me, that makes sense. Jared had powerful leg kicks in the first round, and they probably did more damage. It looked like he was blocking most of those jabs to me. Rob won 2 and 3 though

@ 5:22 (when Jared is able to stun him) this is the punch DDP was throwing against Whittaker. Whittaker is an amazing fighter, but it just goes to show you have to change it up and evolve your game plan.

Agreed but its not just that, ddp is just a more physical fighter, Robert was cooking him on the feet until ddp got his hands on him in the takedown. I do think Rob wins the rematch in some years when ddps chin gets cracked or his ugly style gets figured out

Robert Whittaker with that ufc 4 strategy lol. 1 2 head kick. This fight is a lesson in simplicity. Just using your jab and straights. Jared didn't know how to get past it, beautiful simple striking from Rob.

i notice rob needs to add more body kicks he has beautiful karate & boxing he throws the headkick a lot and only sets it up with the jab/2 he could throw more body kicks to set it up easier instead of blasting head kicks through cannonier guard although that is what broke his arm. also he throws many side kicks to the knee he could throw a lot of sidekicks to the body when cannonier blocks so high

@@tomjegs___ I know mate, it’s ridiculous, it’s so obvious it’s embarrassing, it’s awkward to watch and hear, and It’s getting awkward to watch in general. like Izzy pretending he cared what JC was earning in their fight, and talking about how hard the fight was, when JC never even came close to doing anything to him, but then guys like Vitori and Whittaker actually clap him around a bit n win rounds. (Not saying they beat him or came close) but he just goes on to trash them as people. the open obvious platform for this shit amongst these fighters is ridiculous and embarrassing. switch the tables and every media outlet in the states is reporting on the disguting racist culture of the organisations athletes

All he has to do is rain down punches to Cannonier’s face when he was on top of Cannonier and he would have won by KO or referee’s stopage, but instead he chose to take Cannonier’s back and gave up the top position, which led to them standing up on their feet and Whittaker losing the dominant top position! Not smart on Whittaker’s part!

Good fight. Was Cannonier's reaction to that kick super weird or is it just me. I've replayed it a bunch of times. Like he kind of grabs towards his forehead for a second. Hmm. I think maybe Whit's toe got him in the eye or something. I've seen dudes stung a ton of times and that isn't how they react. Almost looks like he has a headache, lol. Anywho, would've loved to see this go 5 but Whit's Jabs were the deal breaker for sure and Cannonier should've gone with less leg kicks after the 2nd, regardless of 'damage' Whit wasn't showen much affect from them.
